information + impression examines the dichotomy of how information can enlighten us as well as contain and control us. The work is created entirely out of newspaper, the ubiquitous daily news, a tactile sliver of our recent history: a selection of information that has been deemed important enough to impress into the record. The paper is torn into strips then twisted to create warps and wefts which are woven together to create a transformation of this information. This process is rote, mundane, calming and contemplative. It becomes a different message, making twists and turns on a new path.

Connie Sabo was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. She graduated from the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in 2003 where she received the Governor General’s Silver Medal for Excellence. She also holds a BHE from the University of British Columbia, studied architecture at UBC and public art at the University of Washington.
